FaTMAN 4 - Upgrades in 2002

In a major upgrade to the FaTMAN network infrastructure, the following changes are being made during summer 2002:

Upgrade connection to 1Gbps Completed
Will later operate at 2Gbps
     

Create new Point of Presence at Kirkcaldy

Connection at 155Mbps Completed
     

Angus College

Upgrade connection to 100Mbps Completed

Dundee College

Upgrade connection to 100Mbps Completed

Elmwood College

Upgrade connection to 100Mbps Completed

Fife College

Upgrade connection to 100Mbps Completed

Glenrothes College

Upgrade connection to 100Mbps Completed

Lauder College

Upgrade connection to 100Mbps Completed
(including transfer from EaStMAN)

 

Thus plc have been selected as the main provider of communication circuits.

 

Stiell networks of Uddingston are the main contractors for the supply of network equipment. This is mostly Cisco Systems products

 

All work is being managed by University of Dundee IT Services on behalf of the FaTMAN Consortium.
